Taiwan 2023 Day 2

黄记早餐店

Carrot cake, Ham and egg pancake roll, Soy milk, 

later on ordered another cup of milk tea, which tasted vaguely tinged with roasted coffee

Loved it!

Was a nice breakfast~

Starring bad hair day and it's making us grumpy for the day

Hair flat. Face swollen.

Ha.

Bus stop at 林尾 on the way to our destination

Lots of big black ants crawling about @.@

There was a train-road junction beside too

Saw the train pass by and the barricade coming back up to allow cars to pass again

Lunch at 桥头边肉圆

It was good!

Loved the crunchy-ness of the fried chicken, 

loved the just right soft chewy-ness of the glutinous flour covering the meat

Noodles are slightly oily but still palatable :)

Went to POYA for round 1 shopping and to allow time for digestion after that.

At 文心花园 for tea

Trying order but still captivated by the environment

Everything was so photogenic there, 

we just couldn't stop with the photos until the skies were grey

In a food coma but need to take some photos

And Oh boy did it rain right after we left

It was such a heavy rain I was drenched head to toe even with an umbrella

We missed the bus too and had to wait for an hour for the next one to come

And yes we did try to get a cab

And we failed.

Guess the rain was just too heavy...

After alighting the bus, we continued to walk for another good 20 minutes

Passed by a dragonfruit and pineapple plantation

And yes, it was still drizzling

Drizzling heavy and being cold enough for everything to be covered in a thick fog

Saw the llama statue and it gave us much hope. We were reaching!

Even the chickens there were hiding from the rain

Was told that the bigger animals were kept away because of the rain as well

Such a pity!

Awkward having eyes staring at you while you do your business though. 😂

Large soft toys but we were wet so we did not take a seat among them

Interesting piece of art, still trying to figure out what it is, I just liked the vibe.

Still wet and cold, the hotpot came just in time!

The night view here was exceptional!

Taiwan 2023 Day 1 (part 2)

Checked in to 伊达邵度假旅店 and waited 

for the rain to become light enough for us to enjoy being outdoor

Tickets we bought from our 旅店 at a discounted price. 200TWD for 2!

Braving the drizzle for the experience~

Frogs lining the jetty. heh.

Not sure if it's due to the frog meme craze recently or the Sun Moon Lake

being known for the Nine Frogs stack 😂😂

Took the ferry in the rain~

the waves were very pretty as the water was super clear and green!

Got some souvenirs, yet to try, hope it's good!

Some snacks too~

The 马告香肠 and 炸杏鲍菇 were delicious! 🤤 

Waiting for it to go the final route back to Itathao pier.

Was given a pouch for our room - keys, aircon remote, TV remote

Went up the tiny lift to level 5 room 505.

Took a proper look at our room, was not as bad as we had expected after reading the reviews

The only thing was that the bathroom did smell musty and mouldy, at least for the first 2 days.

Vidieo File size too big for dear blogger. LOL. Dumped it in drive instead.

Dinner from along the old street after reaching back to Itathao pier

Was ...Meh 

The chicken-wrap-rice was a disappointment

Chicken wasn't savoury enough

Rice was just oily and peppery

Could have been better. Like, really.

Fried prawn was not bad, wasabi mayo made it taste better.

Bun was disappointing too

The pork meat was not melt-in-the-mouth, skin was still very chewy

Bun tasted vaguely like what my mum makes at home, just more fluffy 

HAHAHAHA.

The Taupok was meh, tasteless.

The most palatable one was probably the prawn, the only one that we finished.

Taiwan 2023 Day 1 (part 1)

Marhaba Lounge at Changi Terminal 3 after check-in and past immigration.

The dory fish creamed filet was kinda salty 

but still nice enough for me to finish a piece 👍🏻🐟

The satay was dry and thus kinda tough... 

guess it had been left out for quite a while when we took it near midnight. 

After midnight they put out a new batch and it was GOOD! 

Pity I couldn't eat more since I had to leave some space in my tum for the airplane meal.

Boarding gate~ Waiting anxiously for them to announce the start of boarding. 

And of course since I had bought business class seats for the both of us, we were "Sky Priority" passengers who could board first, 

right after passengers with infants (which there were none 😄)

Pre-departure drinks while the pilot apologized for a 1-hour delay due to the typhoon. 

While waiting we played pinball, reversi and uno on the in-flight entertainment screen.

 

And yup. I lost. Hahahahahahaha. 🙄

Of course ... Just had to play with the sliding divider 😂

Appetizer - Nutss crackers and Peach 🍑 Oolong Soda 🥃

Very nice! Loved it!!! While the sis got some highball - took a sip and decided that I did not like it

She did not drink much either.

Not our thing.

Salmon, Duck, Egg 🥚 hahaha forgot the proper names. But it was goood~

Main course was... Dry... Meh.

Wasabi mayo salad... Not bad!

Garlic bread was damn good!

Fruits... Fresh 🤭 Ate the watermelon and strawberry only though

The seat could go all the way flat but I decided not to in case I had acid reflux hahah.

Fell asleep while watching Frozen 2.

The turbulence was strong siah, could feel my stomach contents shaking with it.

Air was super cold and dry I had to cover my face with jacket and the duvet 

to contain some warmth and water vapour.

For a moment I really thought that I was going to have a nose bleed.

Descend and touch down~

Proceeding with immigration clearance 😁 Hello TW!

Oh and yes, SG passport can now use the e-gates in Taiwan!

Collected our wifi device which we had rented via KLOOK!

Topped up our Easycard at 7-11~

Skipped breakfast as we were still not hungry

High-Speed Rail towards Taichung!

Alighted after approx 40 min

Face swollen, am tired of the long journey. Can't wait to finally rest~

The pork cutlet was SUPERB! The pumpkin croquet was nice too! 

Glad to be able to fill the tum, was just getting hungry!

Waiting for our 小黄车

The driver that came was super chatty 😂 

he even opened the windows to let us take a whiff of the ?chlorophyll smell 🤣 

and see the rain from the car roof window 😅
